Japanese Powder Tour

The Powder Tour allows you to experience some of Nagano’s best ski resorts. We stay in ryokans (Japanese inns) in Shibu Onsen and Nozawa Onsen, taking day trips to find the best snow. Requisite Japanese cultural experiences make for a unique trip. Resorts visited can include Madarao, Shiga Kogen, Nozawa Onsen, Kijimadaira, Togakushi, Yamada Bokujo, Myoko and Togari Onsen.

Tours Run: January 15 – March 15

Suggested Length: 5 nights 6 days

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1 Meet in Tokyo

We meet at Tokyo Station for an introduction to the tour. 2.5 hours on the train takes us to Yudanaka Station, where the ryokan picks us up. After dinner, we sort out rental gear, if needed.

Accommodation: Japanese Inn

Day 2 Shiga Kogen

Shiga Kogen is one of the largest resorts in Japan and the highest altitude. Snow quality is exceptional and we spend the day exploring its many runs and wide vistas, weather permitting.

Accommodation: Japanese Inn

Day 3 Madarao

Madarao and Tangram have some of the best lift-accessible tree skiing in Japan. There are plenty of groomed runs for those who would rather stay away from trees.

Accommodation: Japanese Inn

Day 4 Myoko

Myoko receives more snow than almost any mountain in Honshu. It is also one of the most visually striking mountains, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. There is no shortage of Japanese powder snow here.

Accommodation: Japanese Inn

Day 5 Transfer to Nozawa Onsen

We transfer to Nozawa Onsen this morning, where we spend our last day and night. Nozawa is a windy street Japanese ski village with restaurants and nightlife. We have our thank you dinner in the ryokan before drinks out on the town. You may want to stay additional days in Nozawa. We’re just saying.

Accommodation: Japanese Inn

Day 6 Departure

After breakfast, your Nagano Ventures guide will help you with your onward transfer.
